Relief aid to earthquakes in the Philippines
The initial work of FPS started because of the Killerquake on the 16th and 17th of July 1990. (Read the FPS story) These two earthquakes measured to 7,3 and 7,1 on the Richter scale. They and many aftershocks hit the northern part of the Philippines.

I was at home in the Faroe Islands when it happened, and we were informed that there were many people, who were victims of the Killerquake. My father in law, Rev. Conrado Domingo said, that if we collected help, we could send it to them, and they would disburse it to the victims.

Here Bible school students pack relief aid to be distributed.

So I put an add in the Faroese newspapers and also wrote a news item about how Faroese people could donate money to the account of FPS. Some people responded, and we were very happy, that our efforts could make a difference.

4 people died in this slide and one is missing. The field you see on the picture is not there any more. The flood washed it away.

The collected money was used to buy rice, canned food and other necessities to the victims.

Relief aid to supertyphoon Angela in the Philippines
In December 1995 there was a supertyphoon named Angela which hit the Philippines. Faroese Philippine Services assisted people in the village Almaguer North in Bambang community. Relief aid was given to 97 families - almost 600 people.

Medical care was given where epedemies were striking.

Super typhoon Angela (also called Rosing) came with strong winds and heavy rain. This caused flods and landslides. 50 houses were flooded because of the flooded rivers Apian and Sta. Fe.

When this picture was taken the flood had subsided 2 feet.

Many of the families lost their most vital belongings as well as their fields were destroyed and their animals (carabows) died.

Immediately we heard about supertyphoon Angela we started collecting help. The collected help was used to buy food to the victims of the natural disaster.

The houses of many families were destroyed and they put up temporary shelters.

The captain of the barrio was asked to make a list of all the victims in need of help. Before the help was distributed a devotional meting was held. Afterward the victims signed their name on the list and got their supply of relief aid.

This man was very very happy to recive help.

"It is a joy to give emergency aid to needy victims, and it is a great possibility to proclaim the love of God", Rev. Conrado Domingo wrote to us in his report about the given relief aid of Faroese Philippine Services.
